Frontline Response
2585 Gresham Road, Atlanta 30316
Frontline has contracted with Dekalb County to provide both emergency shelter & transportation services to and from. (see pickup schedule above)
Good to Know
Bags are searched at the door
Backpacks & luggage are checked in a storage cube up front, although smaller items like a purse or toiletry bag are generally allowed.
Lights out at 10pm
Must leave by 7am
Awesome:
bunk beds & cots
wifi
large screen TV
hot meals
case management
staff that genuinely seems to care
Tired:
no showers
accessible by bus only –no rail service.
77ºF at night is uncomfortably warm for most people, not to mention expensive
it can feel a bit cliquey with permanent residents sometimes flexing on emergency residents
the rules are strictly enforced but not plainly posted

North Dekalb Senior Recreation Center
3393 Malone Dr., Chamblee, GA
The NDSRC is basically overflow insurance for Frontline without many of the amenities. There are no beds, cots are mattresses. Clients can sleep on the floor or on a padded dining room style chair. There are no hot meals or social services. A light snack generally consisting of a 12oz bottled water, chips, crackers or mandarin oranges or peaches in a sealed single-use plastic container. The reason to prefer this over frontline is a quieter experience & that 3 minute walk to Chamblee MARTA station.
Good to Know
Bags are searched at the door with any sharp objects or normal contraband removed and held by staff until morning.
Men & women sleep in the same room divided by the clock in the middle, which is strictly enforced. There are normally many more men.
Quiet time begins at 10pm. The lights stay on all night.
Wake up is at 6am
Must leave by 6:45am
Awesome:
Quiet compared to Frontline or other dorm style shelters
Really nice staff and security guards
Comfy temperatures
3 minute walk from Chamblee Station
nice bathrooms
Tired:
no showers
no hot meals
no social services
